Medicare
The U.S. government provides health insurance specifically for those over the age of 65 and those with disabilities and illnesses.
On-Exchange & Off-Exchange Health Insurance
On-exchange health plans are those that are sold through the government-run health insurance marketplace, also known as an exchange. These plans are required to meet certain standards set by the government, including offering a set of essential health benefits and not denying coverage based on pre-existing conditions. Consumers can also be eligible for financial assistance to help lower the cost of the premium.
